Hey guys, so I was at a garage sale today and found a Bosch GLM 50 C laser measure for like $40. It looks barely used, comes with the case and everything. Is this thing any good? I usually just use a tape measure for my woodworking, but I've been thinking about getting a laser for bigger projects. Should I snag it or is it a waste of money?

Pete, that's a steal! The GLM 50 C is a solid little unit. I've used mine on job sites for years. It's accurate to like 1/16 inch, and the Bluetooth app is handy for laying out rooms. For $40, I'd grab it before someone else does. Even if you only use it occasionally, it pays for itself. I say go for it.

I'm a bit of a measuring nut, and that's a great find. Just make sure you check the calibration before you rely on it. Also, the 50 C has a camera that helps you see the laser point from far away - huge help on sunny days. I paid over $100 for mine. If you don't buy it, tell me where it is and I'll drive over! Ha!

Thanks guys, you convinced me. I'm going back tomorrow to get it. Bob, I'll make sure to test it against my tape measure in the shop before using it on a project. Steve, good to know about the app - I'll have to play with that. Appreciate the advice!

No problem, Pete. Once you go laser, you never go back. Enjoy the new toy. And hey, if you ever need to measure something tricky, just hit me up. I love talking shop about this stuff.
