PSA: Always Wear Your Safety Glasses When Measuring!

Hey folks, just a friendly reminder from a retired carpenter. I've seen too many close calls in my years. Yesterday I was measuring some old lumber and a splinter flew up and nearly hit my eye. Lucky I had my safety glasses on. Don't skip them, even for a quick measurement. Your eyes are priceless!

Good tip, Tim! I'm a weekend warrior and I'll admit I get lazy sometimes. I'll start wearing them more. Got a brand recommendation? I find mine fog up and I end up taking them off.

Haha, Dave, I know the fogging issue. I use anti-fog wipes or just get ones with vents. My go-to is the 3M Virtua, they're cheap and work well. But yeah, Tim's right – I always wear them when cutting or measuring, especially with metal tape measures – those edges are sharp!

I once dropped a tape measure from a ladder and it bounced right off my safety glasses – scared me but saved my face. Now I never measure without them. Also, for those reading, make sure your tape measure has a good clip – the magnetic ones are great for one-handed use on ladders.
