Safety First! Anyone else wear goggles when measuring?

I know it sounds silly, but I always put on my safety glasses before I even pick up a tape measure. Last week, I was measuring some old pipe and the tape snapped back and almost took my eye out! I've seen too many guys get injured from stupid little things like that. Anybody else got a close call?

Yeah, Paul, I'm with you. I always wear my brand X safety glasses - they're the best, never fog up. But I gotta say, I never thought about it with measuring. Thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure to keep mine on.

Great tip, Paul. I'm a stickler for safety on the job site. I've seen tapes snap and the metal tab can fly off and hit you right in the face. Also, don't forget to wear gloves when handling metal studs or measuring rough edges - you can get cut up pretty bad.

Paul, you're right. And it's not just tape measures - laser measures are great but you still need to be careful. I had a cheap one that gave me a false reading and I cut a board too short. But that's a different kind of safety - accuracy matters too. Anyway, good reminder. Safety glasses are cheap, eye injuries are not.
