Toyota inventing heart-rate detectors? What's next, a tape measure that reads my pulse?

Just saw this article about Toyota patenting a heart rate detector for vehicles. Seems like overkill to me. I mean, who needs their car to know their pulse? Probably gonna cost an arm and a leg, and most of us just need a good tape measure and level. Anyone else think this is getting outta hand?

Steve, you're not wrong about cost, but as a contractor I see potential. Imagine a truck that monitors your stress levels on a job site or detects if you're about to fall asleep. Could be a safety thing. But yeah, it'll probably be a luxury add-on for now. Still, interesting to see how they integrate tech into vehicles.

Heart rate detection? That's neat but I'm more interested in the precision of the sensors. If Toyota's using some new measurement tech, could trickle down to tools we use. Imagine a laser distance measurer with that kind of accuracy. I'd buy that. But for now, I'll stick with my calipers.

Hank, you and your precision! But you got a point. If they can detect heartbeats through seats, maybe some of that sensor tech could end up in levels or stud finders. Would make my life easier on the job. Still, I doubt we'll see it in the budget aisle anytime soon.

Yeah, Felix, not in my budget. I'll keep using my torpedo level and a prayer. But hey, if it saves lives, maybe it's worth it. Just don't expect me to buy a new truck just for a heart-rate monitor!
