DeWalt vs Makita pliers - which one should I get?

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my pliers set and I'm stuck between DeWalt and Makita. I mostly do weekend DIY stuff around the house - fixing gates, some electrical work, etc. Which brand do you think is better for pliers? I've heard good things about both but not sure which to pick. Any advice?

Honestly, for pliers, the brand matters less than the steel and the joint. I've used both DeWalt and Makita on job sites. DeWalt's are decent, but Makita's pliers tend to have a better grip and the jaws stay aligned longer. If you're doing electrical work, get a pair with a good crimper. But don't cheap out - both brands have budget lines that are meh.

I'm a woodworker, so I use pliers more for pulling nails and bending wire. I've had a set of Makita pliers for 3 years and they've held up great. The grips are comfortable and they don't rust easily. My buddy has DeWalt and they're fine too, but I find the Makita ones have a smoother action. Just my 2 cents.

For pro use, I've switched to Knipex for pliers, but between DeWalt and Makita, I'd say Makita. DeWalt's pliers are okay but I've had a couple where the cutting edge dulled quickly. Makita seems to hold up better. But if you're just a weekend warrior, either will do. Check if they have a lifetime warranty though - that's a big plus.
