Hey all, I'm in the market for a new set of linesman pliers and I'm torn between DeWalt and Makita. I've been using a pair of old Klein's forever, but they're finally giving out. I do a lot of electrical and general renovation work. Anyone have experience with either brand? I'm leaning Makita for the price, but DeWalt's warranty is tempting. Thoughts?

I've got both brands in my bag actually. The Makita ones are lighter and the grip is comfy, but I've noticed the cutting edges dull faster than the DeWalt's. If you're on a budget, Makita is solid for the price, but if you're gonna be abusing 'em daily, spend the extra on DeWalt. Just my 2 cents.

Go with DeWalt all the way man! I work on cars and machinery and my DeWalts have taken a beating for 3 years now. No rust, no play. The jaws still line up perfect. I've heard Makita's QC has been slipping lately. Plus, if you get the ones with the replaceable cutters, you're golden.

I mostly do woodworking, but I do use pliers for pulling nails and stuff. I got the Makita set because it was on sale. They're ok. The grips are a bit slippery when my hands get sweaty. I think the DeWalt have a better grip texture. But honestly, for light use, Makita works fine. For heavy use, I'd go DeWalt.
