Need Pliers Recommendations for Backyard Deck Build

Hey folks, I'm about to build a deck in my backyard and I'm realizing my old pliers are junk. I need a good set for the job. What do you recommend? I'm on a budget but want something that'll last.

Hey Dan, safety first! Make sure whatever pliers you get have insulated handles if you're working near any wiring. But for deck building, you'll mainly need linesman's pliers for cutting and twisting wire, and maybe some needle-nose for tight spots. I'd go with something like Irwin or Klein, but if you're on a budget, the Husky set from Home Depot is decent.

I second the Husky suggestion. I've had a set for years and they've held up. Also, you might want a pair of pliers with a wire crimper for your deck's structural connections. Since you're building a deck, I'd invest in a quality pair of diagonal cutting pliers too. You'll be cutting lots of wire and nails. And for the comfort factor, get some with ergonomic handles – your hands will thank you after a long day. I personally use Knipex, but they're pricey.
