Pliers won't grip - need help!

Hey all, my new needle-nose pliers just stopped gripping properly. They're only a few weeks old, and I was using them to pull some stubborn staples. Now they just slide right off. I've cleaned them with WD-40, but no luck. Anyone had this issue?

Have you checked the pivot? Sometimes they loosen up. Try tightening the screw or rivet. Also, make sure there's no gunk in the teeth. If cleaning didn't help, might be a manufacturing defect. I'd check the warranty.

Gripping issues are often due to worn teeth or a bad temper. If they're new, I'd return them. But if you want to fix them, you can resharpen the teeth with a small file. Also, check if the jaws align properly - misalignment will cause slipping.

I've had that happen with cheap pliers. The steel is too soft. Invest in a decent brand like Knipex or Channellock. My Knipex have lasted years without losing grip. Also, don't use pliers as a hammer or pry bar - that'll ruin them fast.
