DeWalt or Makita pressure washer for home DIY? Which one won't let me down?

Alright, so I'm finally pulling the trigger on a pressure washer. I've been eyeing the DeWalt DWPW2400 and the Makita HW132. Both are around the same price point, but I can't decide. I'll be using it for driveway cleaning, siding, and maybe stripping some old paint off the deck. Any of you guys have experience with either? I know DeWalt has that 2400 PSI and Makita has a bit less but maybe better build? Let me hear your thoughts.

First off, make sure you check the safety features on both. The DeWalt has a GFCI on the cord which is a must for outdoor use. Makita usually has one too but double-check. Also, look at the nozzle tips – do they have a safety lock? Last thing you want is a kid or pet getting blasted. As for performance, both are solid brands. I'd lean toward DeWalt for parts availability. Just my two cents.

I got the DeWalt last year on sale at HD. Works great for the price. But honestly, if you're on a budget, check out the refurbished units on Amazon or eBay. I saved like 30%. Makita might be quieter though, if that matters. My DeWalt is loud as hell but gets the job done. No complaints so far.

Thanks for the input. I didn't think about the noise factor. I'll be using it in the suburbs so quieter is better. Also, Wendy, good call on the GFCI – I'll verify that. Rick, did you have any issues with the DeWalt's pump? I heard some people say they leak after a while.

Carl, if noise is a concern, Makita is generally quieter. But you can also get a longer hose and move it further away. Just don't skimp on ear protection. And yeah, DeWalt pumps can leak if you don't winterize them properly. Always run antifreeze or drain completely before storage. That goes for any brand.
