Hey all, I’m in the market for a new pressure washer. I’ve narrowed it down to either the DeWalt 4200 PSI or the Makita 4000 PSI unit. I do a mix of deck cleaning, driveway work, and some light car washing. Anyone have experience with either? Leaning slightly toward DeWalt for the higher PSI, but Makita’s build quality is tempting.

I’ve got the Makita. Honestly, it’s a beast for the size. the 4000 PSI is plenty for most jobs. The DeWalt might have higher specs, but I’ve heard their pumps can be finicky. Makita’s is super reliable. Plus, the Honda engine on the Makita is a dream. Just my 2 cents.

I used to have a DeWalt pressure washer – it worked great for about 2 years then the pump started leaking. Switched to a Makita and haven’t looked back. Makita’s axial cam pump is way better than DeWalt’s wobble plate design. For the price difference, Makita wins. But if you need max PSI for like heavy concrete etching, maybe go DeWalt. For general DIY, Makita all day.

Thanks guys. I was worried about the pump durability. DrilMaster, that leak issue is exactly what I was afraid of. Carl, good to hear the Honda engine is solid. I think I’m gonna go with the Makita. Any tips on nozzles or soap attachments I should grab with it?

Definitely get a set of quick-connect nozzles if it doesn’t come with them. A turbo nozzle is also a game changer for stubborn grime. For soap, the Makita’s onboard tank is decent, but I prefer a separate foam cannon for cars. Cheers!
