Hey folks, I'm in the market for a new pressure washer for home use. I've narrowed it down to DeWalt and Makita. Both seem solid, but I can't decide. I'm leaning towards DeWalt because I already have their tools, but I've heard Makita makes great motors. Any advice? Budget is around $400.

I've used both professionally. DeWalt is a workhorse, but Makita tends to have better build quality and more efficient pumps. For home use, either is overkill, but if you're set on one, I'd say Makita for the reliability. Just check the GPM and PSI - don't get caught up in price. A $400 model from either will do fine for driveways and siding.

Makita all the way! I've had my Makita for 5 years, not a single issue. DeWalt is good, but they've had some QC problems lately. Plus, Makita's warranty is top-notch. Don't be swayed by the brand loyalty to DeWalt - you won't regret Makita.

I'm a hobbyist, but I've used both. I actually prefer DeWalt because I find them easier to maintain and parts are more readily available at my local store. But honestly, for $400 you could get a gas one that'll blow both out of the water if you're okay with the noise. Just saying.
