Found a 3000 PSI Ryobi at Direct Tools for $199 - Worth it?

Hey all, was browsing Direct Tools Factory Outlet today and saw a Ryobi 3000 PSI 2.3 GPM gas pressure washer for $199.99. Normally $399. I do a lot of deck refinishing and driveway cleaning on weekends, but I've been using a little electric Sun Joe. Is this Ryobi worth the upgrade? I've heard mixed things about their gas engines. Anybody run one of these?

$199 for a 3000 PSI gas unit is a steal if it runs. But Ryobi gas engines can be hit or miss. Check if it's a refurb or new. Direct Tools is usually factory blemished/refurb. For the price, even if it lasts 3-4 years, you're ahead. Just make sure the pump is a triplex and not axial cam. Axial cam pumps are disposable. Also, ethanol gas will kill it. Use non-ethanol and Sta-Bil, or you'll be rebuilding the carb every spring.

Dude, I bought the same one last month from DT for $189! It's a refurb but looked brand new. Works great for my driveway and siding. Only issue: the wand that comes with it is kinda cheap, so I swapped it for a flex wand. Also, the carb needed a little tuning out of the box, but once I dialed it in, it starts first pull every time. For $200, I'd say go for it. Just don't expect Honda reliability.

Before you pull the trigger, make sure you have proper PPE. 3000 PSI can take your finger off if you're not careful. Never point it at anyone, and wear safety glasses. Also, that unit is LOUD. I'd recommend hearing protection. And check the oil level before first use – refurbs sometimes come dry. If you get it, run it for 5 minutes and check for leaks at the pump and connections. If it leaks, return it. Otherwise, solid deal.
