Found a Ridgid 2900 PSI for $200 - too good to be true?

So I was browsing Craigslist and this guy is selling a barely used Ridgid 2900 PSI pressure washer for $200. Retail is like $400+. He says it's been used twice, needs nothing, just wants it gone. Seems like a steal, but I'm a bit wary. Should I jump on it or is it a red flag?

Tim, I've seen that same trap before. $200 for a 2900 PSI is tempting, but check for the obvious: leaks, oil condition, and if the pump is a AAA (axial cam) vs. a triplex. At that price, it's probably got a cheap pump that's about to fail. But if it runs fine and you can test it, it could be legit. Ask him for a demo and bring a bucket of water to see it in action. If he hesitates, walk away.

Great points from Felix. Also, don't forget to check the safety features. Is the spray gun in good shape? Does it have a safety lock? A worn trigger could be a hazard. And if you do buy it, make sure you use the right nozzles and don't crank the pressure too high on delicate surfaces. Seen too many people blow out their siding or etch their concrete.

I once snagged a pressure washer for $50 because the guy didn't realize it just needed a new unloader valve. Some people are just lazy or clueless. Your deal could be that diamond in the rough.
