Hey guys, just picked up a Simpson MegaShot PS3228 pressure washer for $150 at a pawn shop. It looks barely used – still had the original box and manual. Rated at 2800 PSI/28 GPM. Is this a solid machine? I'm new to pressure washing and want to make sure I didn't get ripped off.

Dude, that's a steal! Simpson is top notch – I've got the same model and it's a beast. Perfect for driveways and house siding. For $150 you basically stole it. Just make sure the pump isn't locked up – put some water in and let it rip. You'll love it!

Hold on Hank. That's a good deal yeah but check the pump oil level and look for cracks in the hose. Also Simpson's use Honda engines so if that's a GX160 you're golden. But run it with water first – never dry fire it or you'll kill the seals. And always use a downstream injector for chems, not the soap nozzle. Trust me.

Thanks guys! Chris, how do I check the pump oil? I'm new to this. Also, any tips on first use? Should I buy a special detergent?

Pump oil is usually a little sight glass on the side – look for a round window. And for detergent, just get the Simpson foam gun and some simple green or something. But first, just hook up a hose and let it run for a minute with no nozzle to flush it out. Post pics when you fire it up!
