Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new rotary tool for some detailed wood carving and small metal grinding. I'm torn between the DeWalt DWE7300 and the Makita RT0701C. I need something with good speed control and minimal wobble for precision. Anyone have experience with both?

Makita all the way bro! I've had my RT0701C for years and it's bulletproof. The variable speed is smooth and it's built like a tank. DeWalt has been slipping in quality lately IMO.

I'm just a weekend warrior, but I picked up the DeWalt DWE7300 last year and it's been solid for my projects. No complaints. The collet seems well made and it runs true. Might be cheaper too.

I do a lot of fine woodworking. The Makita has a bit more precision out of the box, but the DeWalt can be tuned up with a precision collet. If you're doing super detailed stuff, maybe look at the Foredom or a Dremel with the flex shaft. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the replies! I think I'll go with the Makita since I need that precision right away. Appreciate the help!
