Drilling deal in Calgary: ACT Energy buys SB Directional - thoughts?

Interesting news! I’ve used ACT’s rental tools before, they’re pretty solid. SB Directional has a good rep for horizontal drilling. Wonder if this means more directional boring options for us DIYers? Probably not, but a guy can dream.

Big move. I’m more into the tool side, but my uncle works in oilfield. He says directional drilling is where the money’s at. ACT is smart to grab them. Wonder if they’ll rebrand the tools?

Seen this coming. ACT has been expanding like crazy. I’ve subbed for them on a few pipeline jobs. Their equipment is top-notch. This acquisition should streamline their HDD services. Hope they don’t cut jobs tho.

Cool! I actually collect old directional drill bits. SB had some unique designs back in the day. Maybe the acquisition will preserve that history. Anyone know if they’re keeping the SB brand?
