PSA: Don't skip the safety glasses with rotary tools – learned the hard way

Just a friendly reminder to always wear safety glasses when using any rotary tool, not just the big grinders. I was using a Dremel with a cutoff wheel yesterday, and a tiny piece of the disc flew off and hit my cheek right below my eye. Luckily I had glasses on, but it was too close for comfort. I know some of you might think it's overkill, but trust me, it's not. cheap insurance for your eyes.

Absolutely! I never touch a rotary tool without my full face shield AND safety glasses. I've seen too many videos of discs shattering. Plus, the dust gets everywhere – you don't want that in your eyes. And for the love of all that's holy, make sure your tool is at the right RPM for the accessory. I always check the max speed on the packaging. Over-revving can cause catastrophic failure.

I also try to position the work so the sparks and debris fly away from me. And make sure you have a good grip – I nearly dropped mine once when it caught on a knot in some oak.
