PSA: Don't skip the safety glasses with rotary tools!

I just had a close call with my Dremel. Was grinding some metal without safety glasses (I know, stupid) and a tiny shard flew right past my eye. Lucky it didn't hit me. Lesson learned. Always wear PPE, even for quick jobs. What do you guys use for eye protection?

Man, I've been preaching this for years! I never run any rotary tool without my safety goggles. I even got a face shield for bigger jobs. My uncle lost vision in one eye from a grinding wheel accident. Not worth it. Glad you're ok though. Which Dremel you using?

Good reminder. I always wear a full face shield when using cutoff wheels. Seen too many shattered discs fly off. Also, check your accessory ratings - some cheap discs aren't rated for the RPM. That's a recipe for disaster. Stay safe out there.

Thanks guys. I use a Dremel 4000, but yeah, it was a cheap cutoff wheel that threw a shard. I'm ordering some proper safety glasses with a wrap-around design. Also thinking about getting a face shield. Better be safe than sorry.
