Dropped my rotary tool from the roof - still works! What's your 'abuse survived' story?

Hey Tool Discount Club fam, had a wild one yesterday. Was up on a scissor lift doing some detail work on a steel beam with my trusty DeWalt rotary tool. Slipped on some grease, tool goes flying, bounces off the lift rail, then takes a 15-foot dive onto concrete. Heart stopped. Climbed down expecting a pile of plastic and metal. Picked it up, chuck was bent, case cracked, but fired right up! Still running smooth today. DeWalt ain't playin' around with their build. Anyone else have a tool that took a beating and lived to tell?

Wendy, that's nuts! Roofing here - we're basically in the 'tool abuse Olympics' daily. Had my Milwaukee M12 rotary take a 30-foot slide off a steep pitch last month, landed in a mud puddle. Dried it out, swapped the battery, good as new. But my buddy's cheapo store brand wasn't so lucky - fell off a ladder, shattered like glass. You get what you pay for. Pro tip: always check the chuck alignment after a drop, even if it runs. Off-center vibration will kill bearings fast.

LOL you guys are making my HVAC mishaps look tame! Was cutting a vent hole in an attic last week, my Ryobi rotary slipped out of my sweaty hand, fell through the ceiling drywall, and nailed the homeowner's ceramic floor tile below. Tool was fine, but I had to patch drywall AND replace a tile. Still, tool's a champ - those rubber overmold grips saved it. Side note: if you're in tight spaces, maybe add a wrist strap? Learned my lesson.
