Billionaire tax: will it drive businesses out of CA? What's your take?

Just saw this poll about that billionaire tax in CA. Seems like a lot of folks are worried it'll make businesses flee. As a guy who likes to keep his tools sharp and his wallet thicker, I'm curious what you all think. Is this just a scare tactic or a real concern?

Honestly, I've seen this cycle before. They talk about taxing the rich, and the next thing you know, a few companies pick up and move to Texas or Nevada. But they always say 'this time it's different.' I don't know, man. As long as my hardware store stays open, I'm not losing sleep over it.

I've been renovating houses in California for 20 years. Every time they float a new tax, my contractor friends start sweating about their bottom line. But at the end of the day, people still need to live here and businesses adapt. The real issue is if it gets so bad that the little guys get squeezed out. That's what worries me.

I've restored old buildings from San Diego to Eureka. In my experience, it's the uncertainty that kills more businesses than the taxes themselves. If they could just decide on a tax and stick to it, people would plan around it. But this back-and-forth? That's what makes folks pack up their tools and head to a state with less drama.
