Scored a DeWalt random orbital sander for $50 at a garage sale – steal or scrap?

Hey everyone, just picked up a DeWalt DWE6423 5" random orbital sander at a garage sale for $50. Looks barely used, came with a hard case and a few sanding discs. I know DeWalt is usually solid, but I'm a Makita guy at heart. Was this a good deal or did I just waste my money? Should I flip it or keep it? Pics incoming if needed.

Dude, $50 for a DWE6423? That's a steal. Those go for like $80-100 new. Even if it's used, as long as the pad isn't worn and the motor doesn't sound like a dying cat, you're golden. I've had mine for 3 years and it's still going strong. The dust collection is decent for a ROS. Keep it, use it, love it. Or flip it for $70 easy. Your call.

Makita guy here too, but I gotta admit DeWalt makes a fine sander. That price is a no-brainer. I'd check the pad and the cord, but for $50 you can't go wrong. If you don't want it, I'll take it off your hands for $60. 😂 But seriously, keep it. You'll use it more than you think.

Thanks for the reassurance, guys. I fired it up earlier and it runs smooth, no weird noises. Pad looks good. I think I'll keep it as a backup to my Makita. Maybe use it for rougher stuff. Appreciate the input!

Good call. Just make sure to clean the dust port regularly and don't press down too hard – let the tool do the work. Enjoy your new toy!
