Hey guys, I'm trying to decide between the DeWalt DWE575 and the Makita XSH03Z. I'm on a budget and need a reliable circ saw for weekend projects. Is the Makita worth the extra $50? I've heard mixed things.

I've used both on job sites. The Makita is lighter and has better dust collection, but the DeWalt is a tank. If you're doing framing all day, go Makita. For occasional use, the DeWalt will serve you fine and save you cash.

IMO the Makita is worth it if you can swing it. The blade visibility is way better and the motor is smoother. But honestly, both are solid. Check for used deals on Craigslist! I got my Makita for $80 like new.

Don't forget safety! Make sure whichever you get has an electric brake and a good blade guard. I've seen too many kickbacks from cheap saws. Also, invest in a good blade - that matters more than the brand sometimes.
