Georgia Concrete Cutting: Any Tips?

Just read this article about scheduling concrete cutting in Georgia. Sounds like a serious job, especially with all the rebar and thickness they deal with. I've done some concrete work but never cutting. Anyone here got tips for a first-timer? I'm thinking of tackling a small slab project next month.

Make sure you check the depth and go slow. Also, always wear ear and eye protection, that noise is brutal! What kind of slab are you planning?

I've cut a few expansion joints with a rented saw. Biggest thing is to find the rebar or wire mesh with a scanner first. I once hit a piece of rebar and it scared the hell out of me—the blade kicked back. Also, don't forget to cool the blade with water if you're using a wet saw, or you'll burn it up. You got a good saw in mind?

Thanks for the heads up, guys. I'm planning a small 4-inch deep cut for a doorway, nothing too crazy. I'll definitely rent a proper walk-behind saw with a diamond blade. I haven't scanned for rebar yet, but I'll do that first. Any recommendations for a good rental place or blade brand?

For rental, Home Depot or Sunbelt are solid. For blades, I've had good luck with Husqvarna or Makita ones. Just make sure it's rated for the material. And don't forget to mark your line and use a guide rail if you can. Good luck with the project, man!
