Just scored a killer deal on a miter saw at Harbor Freight - too good to be true?

Hey guys, was at Harbor Freight yesterday picking up some wire nuts and saw their Hercules 12-inch sliding compound miter saw on clearance for $199. Normally retails for like $350+ at the big box stores. Box was a little beat up but everything inside looked fine. Anyone have experience with this model? Seems like a steal for weekend projects.

Dude, that's actually not bad at all. I've got the older version of that saw in my shop truck for trim work. For $200 you really can't go wrong - it's not a Festool but it cuts straight and the laser guide is decent. Just make sure you check the blade alignment when you set it up, sometimes those HF saws need a little tweaking out of the box.

lol Mason you're turning into a real tool junkie. That's a solid price though. My apprentice picked one up last year and it's held up fine for fascia and trim. Just don't expect it to survive falling off a roof like my old DeWalt would. For $199 I'd say grab it if you need a miter saw - better than paying full price for something you'll use twice a year.

Thanks guys, appreciate the input. Luke - good call on checking the alignment, I'll definitely do that. Chris - hey, a man's gotta have the right tools! I think I'm gonna go back and grab it today before someone else does. My old chop saw is about ready for retirement anyway.
