Best screwdriver set for deck building? Need recommendations!

Hey everyone, I'm about to start building a deck next weekend and realized my screwdriver collection is a joke. Mostly mismatched cheap ones from dollar store. I need a decent set that won't strip screws or break. Any recommendations? Not looking to spend a fortune but want something that'll last. Thanks!

For deck building you'll be driving a lot of screws, probably 3 inch deck screws. A good ratcheting screwdriver is a game changer. I've had the Williams WRS-1 for years and it's solid. But honestly, for a deck, you might want to consider an impact driver if you don't have one. Way faster. If you're set on screwdrivers, get a set with hardened tips, like Grace or Wiha. Avoid the big box store house brands.

I second the impact driver suggestion. But if you're going manual, get a set with square drive or star bits if your screws have those. Robertson (square) is common for deck screws. I've got a set from Klein Tools that's held up well. Also, make sure you get a comfortable grip because you'll be doing a lot of twisting. +1 on avoiding cheap ones, they'll just frustrate you.

Thanks for the advice! I do have a cordless drill but not an impact driver. Maybe I'll pick one up. But for now, I'll look into those brands. Any specific model numbers? I saw a set from Bosch that looked decent. Also, what size bits do I need for deck screws? #2 Phillips?

For deck screws, #2 Phillips is common, but many deck screws now use star or square drive. Check your screws first. If you go impact, get impact-rated bits. Bosch has some good sets. I'd recommend the Bosch 44-piece set if you want variety. But if you're just doing a deck, maybe get a dedicated driver and a few bits. Also, don't forget a good bit holder if you go impact, the little ones that come with drills are garbage.
