DeWalt vs Makita Impact Drivers: Which One Should I Get?

Alright folks, I'm in the market for a new impact driver. I've been going back and forth between the DeWalt DCF887 and the Makita XDT131. I do a lot of DIY projects around the house, nothing too heavy, but I want something reliable. I've heard good things about both, but I'm torn. What do you guys think? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey Gary, I've been in the trade for 30+ years and I've used both. DeWalt is solid, but Makita's got a slight edge in ergonomics, especially if you're working overhead. The XDT131 has a better balance and the trigger feel is smoother. But honestly, you can't go wrong with either. If you've already got batteries in one system, stick with that. No point in switching if you've got a bunch of batteries already. My two cents.

But the DeWalt is a beast when you need that extra torque. For DIY, you probably won't need that extra oomph, so I'd say go with whichever feels better in your hand. Go to a store and try them out.
