DeWalt vs Makita Impact Drivers: Which One to Get?

Hey everyone, I'm in the market for a new impact driver. I've been going back and forth between the DeWalt DCF887 and the Makita XDT16. Both have great reviews, but I can't decide. I'm a seasoned DIYer, so I want something reliable and powerful. Any experiences with either? Thanks!

I've used both over the years. The Makita is lighter and more compact, which is great for overhead work. But the DeWalt has a bit more torque and seems to drive screws faster. If you're mostly doing general DIY, you can't go wrong with either. But if you're doing heavy framing or decks, the DeWalt might have the edge. Also, consider your battery platform - if you already have tools from one brand, stick with that to save money on batteries.

I'm on team Makita! I've had mine for 2 years and it's been a workhorse. The variable speed trigger is super responsive, and the LED light is actually useful. But honestly, it's all about personal feel. You should go to a store and hold both in your hand. The grip and weight make a huge difference when you're working all day.
