Just saw this: Harbor Freight has up to 50% off plus $6.99 shipping. Anyone used their coupons before? I'm thinking of grabbing a set of screwdrivers but don't want junk. Thoughts?

Depends on what you get. Their Pittsburgh screwdrivers are okay for occasional use, but I've had tips snap. If you're a hobbyist like me, spend a bit more on something like Proto or Wiha. However, their Brendon or Doyle lines are decent for the price.

I'd steer clear of their cheapest screwdrivers. I've seen the insulation fail on their electricians sets. If you're gonna do any electrical work, spend the extra for insulated ones from Klein or similar. HF's coupons are tempting but watch for safety issues.

For professional use? No way. I use my screwdrivers daily and HF's just don't hold up. But for a home DIYer I guess they're fine. Just don't expect them to last. Also their warranty sometimes requires original packaging which is a PITA.

Thanks guys. Sounds like I should skip the cheap ones and look for a set that's built better. Maybe I'll wait for a sale on a better brand. Appreciate the honesty!
