Building a deck – need advice on specialty tools!

Hey everyone! I'm planning to build a 20x12 deck in my backyard and I'm wondering what specialty tools I should invest in. I've got the basics (circular saw, drill, etc.) but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything that would make the job easier or more precise. Any recommendations? Thanks!

For a deck, I'd say a good impact driver is a must-have - makes driving those long screws a breeze. Also, a laser level is super helpful for ensuring your posts are perfectly plumb and the ledger is level. And don't forget a quality speed square for marking angles on joists. If you're doing a deck, I'd add a nailer (framing or just a coil nailer) if you're going to use nails for the joist hangers or the decking itself. Saves a ton of time versus hammering nails. Also, a joist hanger nailer is a game changer if you have a lot of hangers to install. And don't forget a magnetic stud finder for locating screws in joists for blocking.

I'll second the impact driver, but also consider a compact router for rounding over the edges of the deck boards - gives it a professional look and prevents splinters. Also, a good circular saw with a guide rail if you want perfectly straight cuts for the decking. And if you're using composite, get a blade designed for it to avoid melting.
