Hey folks, planning a big deck build this summer. I need to cut a bunch of compound angles for the railing and stairs. I've got a circular saw but it's a pain. Should I get a miter saw or a jigsaw? Budget is around $200. Any recommendations?

Hands down get a sliding compound miter saw. DeWalt or Makita. I've got the DeWalt DWS779 and it's a beast. Cuts through pressure treated like butter. yeah it's over $200 but worth every penny. Don't cheap out on this, you'll regret it

I'd go with a good jigsaw. You can get a Bosch or DeWalt jigsaw for under $150 and it'll handle curves and angles. For straight cuts, rely on a circular saw with a guide. Miter saws are nice but pricey and take up space. Check craigslist or FB marketplace for used ones

Honestly, for a deck you'll want a miter saw. I do renovations and I use my miter saw for all trim and railing cuts. But if budget is tight, get a jigsaw and a speed square. You can mark angles and cut freehand with practice. Also, don't forget a good blade is key
