DeWalt vs Makita for a cordless ratchet? Need advice!

Hey everyone, I'm in the market for a cordless ratchet and I'm stuck between DeWalt and Makita. I've got a mix of batteries for both (DeWalt 20V and Makita 18V LXT). Mostly doing DIY car repairs and around the house stuff. Which one should I go with? I want something reliable and with good torque. Any experiences?

I've used both extensively in restoration work. The Makita XRW01 is a beast for tight spaces, but the DeWalt DCF503 has better ergonomics IMO. If you already have batteries for both, consider the one with the better warranty. Makita usually has a 3-year, DeWalt too. But honestly, for DIY, either will serve you well. What's your budget?

As a contractor, I've put DeWalt through hell and back. The DCF503 is solid, but if you're doing a lot of automotive work, check out the DeWalt DCF894. It's a 3/8" ratchet with good speed and torque. Makita's are great too, but I find DeWalt's battery platform more versatile for other tools. Plus, their customer service is top-notch. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input! Budget is around $200 for the bare tool. I'm leaning towards DeWalt since I have more of their batteries. But I've heard Makita's ratchet has a longer reach? That could be handy for engine bays.

Yeah, the Makita XRW01 has a slightly longer neck, which helps in tight spots. But DeWalt's DCF503 isn't far behind. If you're mostly doing DIY, you probably won't notice a huge difference. I'd say go with DeWalt since you're already invested in their batteries. Save your money for more tools! LOL. Let us know what you decide.
