My cordless drill won't charge - help!

Hey all, my trusty 18V drill just stopped charging. It's been fine for years, but now the charger light just blinks and no charge. Any ideas? I've tried cleaning the contacts but no luck.

Bummer! Before you spend money on a new battery, check if the charger itself is the issue. You can test it with a multimeter or try borrowing a charger from a friend. Also, sometimes the cells in the battery just die. Have you checked the voltage on the battery?

Thanks for the tips. I tested the charger - output is fine. The battery reads 0 volts, so I guess the cells are dead. Is it worth replacing the battery or should I just get a new drill? This one's seen some tough jobs.

If the drill itself is still solid, replacing the battery is way cheaper than a new drill. Check online for compatible batteries - you can find decent ones for less than half the price of OEM. Just make sure it's the right voltage and amp-hour rating.
