Hey all, just had a close call with my angle grinder today. A cutoff wheel shattered and a piece hit my safety glasses. They held up, but man, it got me thinking. What PPE do you guys swear by? I'm looking for better eye protection maybe.

Glad you're okay, Larry! I always use a full-face shield over glasses with my grinder. Had a disc explode years ago and a shard hit my cheek - shield saved my face. Also, get some good gloves - anti-vibration ones help with fatigue too.

I'll second the face shield. And don't forget ear plugs! Those grinders are loud. I use those 3M Peltor muffs with the bluetooth - listen to tunes and save my hearing. Also, a good dust mask if you're cutting concrete or tile.

Thanks guys! Face shield it is. Pete, that's scary about the cheek hit. Gary, I need to get better ear pro. My old muffs are falling apart. Any recommendations for a budget bluetooth set?

I've got the 3M WorkTunes - they're around $40-50. Not the best audio quality but they work fine for podcasts and they're comfy. Just make sure you get the ones with the higher NRR rating, like 24dB.
