PSA: Don't be like me - Always wear your safety glasses!

So I was cutting some metal with my angle grinder earlier, and a spark flew right into my eye. Thank god I had my safety glasses on, but it got me thinking - how many of you actually wear PPE every time? I know I'm guilty of skipping it when doing quick jobs, but this was a wake-up call. Any tips on making it a habit?

Preach! I never skip mine, learned that the hard way. 15 years ago I was hammering a chisel and a piece of steel went into my eye. Had to get surgery. Now I keep a pair of safety glasses in every tool bag, in the car, and next to my workbench. No excuses. Also, get yourself a good pair that doesn't fog up, makes a huge difference.

I'm guilty of this too, especially on quick tasks. But last week I was using a grinder without glasses and a bit of wire brush flew off and hit me in the cheek. Close call. Now I'm more careful. I got a cheap pair of those over-glasses that fit over my prescription specs, and I always hang them on the drill press so I see them.

Gary, that sounds rough! Surgery is no joke. Paul, I like the idea of hanging them near your tools. I think my problem is just laziness. I'm gonna take your advice and invest in a few pairs, so there's always one within reach. Thanks guys!

Good plan. And remember, if you get something in your eye, don't rub it. Flush with water and see a doc if it's bad. Stay safe out there!
