Just scored a Festool TS 55 track saw - what should I build first?!

Hey Tool Discount Club fam! Been eyeing a Festool TS 55 track saw for YEARS and finally pulled the trigger with the holiday sale. Just unboxed it and man, this thing is a beast - the fit and finish is unreal. Already did a test cut on some scrap plywood and it's like butter. Now I'm staring at it in my garage wondering what to build first. Should I tackle some built-in shelves or maybe a fancy workbench? What would you guys do with a fresh track saw?

Whoa, nice grab Sid! I'm jealous - been watching YouTube vids of those track saws for months but my budget says 'maybe next year' lol. If it were me, I'd start with something simple to get the feel of it. Maybe a basic cutting station or some shop storage? I built a simple plywood cabinet last month with my circular saw and it was... well, let's just say the cuts weren't exactly straight haha. That Festool should make things way easier! Let us know how it goes!

Track saws are game-changers for breaking down sheet goods. Skip the shelves - build a proper mobile tool cart first. 3/4" birch ply, locking casters, and some French cleats. You'll use it every day. Pro tip: get the dust extraction hooked up right away - Festool's anti-static hoses are worth it. And don't baby it - these tools are meant to work.

Thanks guys! Carl - I feel you on the budget struggle, this was definitely a 'treat myself' moment after finishing a big bathroom remodel. Mark - love the tool cart idea! I've been tripping over my gear for ages. French cleats would be sweet for all my tile trowels and mud tools. Any specific dimensions you'd recommend? I'm thinking 24" deep so it can handle sheet goods...

Ooh tool cart with French cleats! That's next-level stuff. Mark's right though - start with something you'll actually use. I made mine too small and now it's just collecting... well, more tools I guess haha. Post pics when you're done! And if you have any leftover plywood, you could always make me some shelves... just kidding! (mostly)
