Hey guys, quick question. I was tightening a bolt on my deck today and a piece of rust flew off the wrench and almost hit my eye. Do yall wear safety glasses for simple wrench work? I usually only put them on for power tools.

YES! Always wear eye protection, even for hand tools. I've seen too many guys get metal splinters or grease in their eyes. Better safe than sorry. I keep a pair of safety glasses in my tool belt all the time.

Absolutely. I even wear them when torqueing precision fasteners. A slip can send a wrench flying. Plus, if you're using penetrating oil, that stuff burns like hell in your eyes. ANSI Z87.1 rated is the way to go.

I always wear mine. My brand of choice is 3M. They're comfortable and don't fog up. But yeah, don't skimp on PPE. A trip to the ER costs way more than a $10 pair of glasses.
