Battery not charging? My drill just died mid-screw!

Hey all, been using my 18V drill for years, no issues. Just now, mid-screw, it just stopped. Battery won't charge - light blinks red/green. I've tried a different battery and that works, so it's not the tool. What gives? Batteries only a year old. Any ideas?

Had the same thing with my drill last year. It's usually a dead cell in the battery pack. These lithium batteries have a protection circuit that shuts them down if one cell drops too low. My advice: try leaving it on the charger for a while, sometimes it resets. If not, you might need to replace it. But before you do, check the contacts - maybe they're just dirty. I cleaned mine with a pencil eraser, worked like a charm.

Will, check the charger too. The blinking red/green can mean the charger is detecting a faulty battery. I've had a charger go bad and it did that with every battery. Try charging that battery on a friend's charger or a different one if you have it. If it charges fine, it's your charger. Also, make sure the battery isn't super cold - they won't charge if they're too cold. Bring it inside for a bit.

I've had that happen when the battery terminals got corroded. I popped the case open (carefully!) and saw some white crusty stuff. Cleaned it with a bit of vinegar on a q-tip, dried it, put it back together. Worked better than new. But if you're not comfy opening it up, get a new battery. They're not that expensive.

Thanks guys. Tried the contact cleaning, no luck. I'll see if my neighbor has a charger to test. If not, battery's under warranty, gonna call the manufacturer. Appreciate the help!
