DeWalt vs Makita Impact Wrenches: Which One Should I Get?

So I'm in the market for a new 1/2" impact wrench for my resto projects. I've narrowed it down to the DeWalt DCF899 or the Makita XWT08Z. I've heard good things about both, but I need real-world opinions. I mostly work on rusty bolts on old trucks, so power and durability are key. Any thoughts?

I've got the Makita XWT08Z and it's a beast. The power is insane, but it's kinda heavy. I've used it daily in my garage for a year and it hasn't missed a beat. But I've heard DeWalt's has a better ergonomic grip. If you're going to be swinging it under a truck all day, that might matter. Also, check the battery compatibility - if you already have batteries for one brand, that might be the deciding factor.

Not to derail, but as a woodworking guy, I always go with DeWalt for the warranty and service. I've had their tools for years and they've always taken care of me. But I've also used a buddy's Makita impact and it was sweet. Just a thought - maybe test them out at a store if you can. Holding them in your hands makes a difference.

I'm a contractor and I run Makita exclusively. The XWT08Z is my go-to for framing and heavy duty. It's got the torque to break loose almost anything, and the battery life is solid. But I'll admit, the DeWalt is also good. If you're leaning towards one, go with that. Just remember to get a good set of impact sockets - that'll affect performance more than the gun itself sometimes.
