Hey folks, I'm lookin to upgrade my wrench set. I've been using some cheapo ones and they're startin to round off bolts. I'm torn between Dewalt and Makita. I'm kinda loyal to Dewalt cuz I got their drill and it's been solid, but I want something that won't strip bolts. Any advice?

Honestly Bob, if precision matters to you, Makita's jaws are machined tighter. I had a Dewalt that slipped on a 14mm bolt once, swapped to Makita and never looked back. Plus their ratcheting mechanism is smoother.

Gotta disagree with Mike there. My Dewalts have never slipped, and I use em daily. Maybe you just got a lemon? The grip on Dewalts is better imo, less hand fatigue. Plus they're more durable – dropped mine off a ladder once and it still works fine.

Thanks guys. So it's down to slip vs durability? I do drop tools a lot haha. Dan, which model you using? I heard the XRP line is good.

If you drop tools a lot, maybe just get both? Lol but serously, check the Makita XTP series – they've got a thicker chrome vanadium coating. Less likely to chip. But hey test em out at the store before you buy.
