My 18V drill won't charge, any ideas?

Hey all, my 18V drill (about 2 years old) stopped charging. I plug it in and the light on the charger flashes red, but no charge. Battery is not hot or anything. Anyone had this problem? Is it the battery or the charger?

Sounds like it could be the battery. I've seen it a few times. Check the contacts on the battery and charger for corrosion or dirt. If that's fine, test the charger with another battery if you can. If the charger works, it's the battery. If not, charger is toast.

Yep, what Pete said. Also, some chargers go into a fault mode if the battery is too low (like below 10V). Try leaving it on the charger for 10 minutes and see if the light changes. If it starts blinking red, sometimes it means it's reviving. I had a battery that took 20 min to start charging.

Before you buy new, check if it's under warranty. Many brands have 3-year warranties on batteries. Also, if you're in a pinch, you can try 'jump starting' the battery with a similar one in parallel for a few seconds—but that's risky. Better to just buy a new one if it's out of warranty.
