My cordless impact wrench won't charge - any ideas?

Hey guys, I've got a DeWalt 20V max impact wrench (the DCF899) that's been great for years, but now it won't charge. The battery indicator on the charger just blinks red and green. I've tried two different batteries and even cleaned the contacts. Any suggestions before I send it in?

If it's blinking red/green, that usually means a defective battery or charger. Since you tried multiple batteries, it's probably the charger. I've had nothing but trouble with DeWalt chargers, honestly. I switched to Milwaukee and never looked back. But if you're set on fixing it, try unplugging the charger for an hour to reset it, and check the prongs for any damage.

I had the same issue once, turned out the charger's cooling fan was blocked by sawdust. Make sure the vent slots on the charger are clean. Also, sometimes the battery contacts get pushed in too far. Use a small screwdriver to gently pry them back out. And don't leave the battery on the charger in a hot garage - heat kills chargers.

Is the tool under warranty? DeWalt has a 3-year warranty on that model I think. I'd contact them if you haven't. Also, check if the firmware on the charger needs updating? Some smart chargers have updates, lol. But yeah, try a few of those things and let us know. I'm curious to see what fixes it.
