Hey guys, I've got a 20V DeWalt impact wrench that's been great for years, but now when I pop the battery on the charger, the red light just blinks and it never charges. Tried a different battery and charger combo and those work fine. Is my wrench toast or is there something I can do? Appreciate any help!

Sounds like the battery contacts on the wrench might be dirty or corroded. Before you write it off, clean 'em with some contact cleaner and a stiff brush. Also check if the terminals are bent. Happened to my drill once. Let us know!

Yeah, Sam, Pete's on the right track. But if that don't work, could be the BMS in the battery went wonky. Since you said the charger blinks, that usually means a cell imbalance or dead cell. Try jumping the battery with a known good one? I've revived a few that way. Just be careful not to short anything!

Hold up, Dan - jumping lithium packs can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing! Sam, a safer bet: open up the battery, check each cell voltage with a multimeter. If any are below 2.5V, that's your problem. Might be easier to just buy a replacement battery if you're not comfortable soldering. Also, Pete's right about cleaning contacts - do that first.

Thanks everyone! I'll try cleaning the contacts tonight. If that fails, I'll crack open the battery pack - I've got a multimeter and some soldering experience. Appreciate the tips, will update when I figure it out!
