Just read this article '5 Things Every Mechanic Will Want In Their Garage That Aren't Power Tools'. Honestly, it's refreshing to see some love for the basics. I mean, we all love our impacts, but a good set of wrenches is irreplaceable. The article mentions some stuff I agree with, but what do you guys think? Any must-haves that aren't powered?

I clicked expecting clickbait but it actually makes sense. I've been a pro for 15 years, and my non-powered essentials are a quality torque wrench (not a power tool, but you know), a set of flare nut wrenches, and a breaker bar. That last one has saved my bacon more times than my impact. Also, a good work light that isn't battery powered? Nah, that's still power. But seriously, hand tools are the backbone.

Good article. I collect tools, and honestly, my vintage Snap-On wrenches are my prized possessions. Sure, I have the latest cordless ratchets, but sometimes you need that feel. And a decent pry bar set? Essential. The article mentions a bench vise - totally agree. Can't beat a good vise for holding things while you wrench.

As a contractor, I agree with the non-power stuff. My go-to non-powered item is a good set of gear wrenches. They save so much time. Also, a quality tap and die set for cleaning threads. Power tools can't always do that. The article's list is solid, but I'd add a good set of hex keys - ball end, you know? And a dead blow hammer, for persuading things.

Great points! I think the article missed the dead blow hammer - that's a classic. And yes, gear wrenches are a game changer. Anyone else have a favorite non-powered tool that they can't live without?
