Hey folks, just grabbed a full set of Craftsman combination wrenches (SAE and metric) at a garage sale for $50. They look barely used, but I'm not super familiar with the newer ones. Is this a good deal or did I get ripped off? I don't need them, but it's Craftsman, you know?

If they're the older US made ones, you stole them! The new ones are ok, but not the same. $50 for a full set is a steal either way. Keep 'em or flip 'em for a profit. I'd have grabbed them too.

As a budget DIYer, I'd say that's a solid price. I've spent more on single wrenches at the hardware store. Just make sure they're not 12-point if you need 6-point for stubborn bolts. But good find!

Tim, I've been a contractor for 20+ years. Those newer Craftsman wrenches are okay, but the older ones are harder to find. If they're the ones with the polished finish, they're likely pre-2010. For $50, you basically got a lifetime set for the price of lunch. Even if you don't need them, they're good to have in a truck or loaner set. I'd say it's a win.
