Hey everyone, just a heads up. I was tightening a nut the other day and the jaw on my new no-name adjustable wrench just shattered. Piece flew up and nearly hit my safety glasses. Glad I was wearing them. Anyone else had a close call like that? I'm gonna stick with name brands from now on.

Good reminder, Sam. PPE is no joke. Even with good wrenches, I always wear gloves and glasses. Those cheap tools are made of pot metal or something. I've seen the same with budget socket sets. Spend the extra few bucks on Proto or Klein and you'll be better off.

Back in my day we didn't have all these fancy safety glasses, but I've got scars to prove it's better to have 'em. Sam, check your wrench brand. I've had good luck with older USA-made tools from garage sales. They don't make 'em like they used to.

Thanks guys. Yup, I'm done with no-name tools. Dan, what gloves do you use? I find they get in the way sometimes.

I use Mechanix Wear M-Pact. They're a bit bulky but have good knuckle protection. Or for tighter spots, just some cheapo dipped gloves. Better than losing skin. Keep your wrenches clean too, grease makes 'em slip.
